New Sunday Morning Schedule - First United Presbyterian Church

Beginning March 9, 2025, First United Presbyterian Church will have a new Sunday morning schedule. The morning will begin at 9:00am with our Christian Education Hour, during which options for spiritual growth are offered for ages 3 and older. At 10:00am there will be time for visiting and refreshments in the Gathering Place while the choir rehearses in the Choir Room. There will be one worship service that will begin at 10:30am. All of the details are listed below.

9:00am Christian Education Hour – Spiritual Growth for ages 4 and older. Childcare is available in the Church Nursery for children under 3.
- Our Adult Discussion Groups
  - Thoughtful Christians discusses various spiritual and theological topics in depth (Church Library). The group is currently discussing The Jesus We Missed: The Surprising Truth About the Humanity of Christ by Patrick Henry Reardon.
  - The Present Word focuses on specific biblical texts and relevant themes (Calvin 201). The curriculum for the spring (March-May) is called Costly Sacrifices. The focus is on understanding the Old Covenant sacrifices and offerings as an aid to understanding the New Testament’s view of Christ’s sacrifice.
- New Option for Adults and Youth
  - The Gospel According to Dr. Seuss is a new offering that will begin on March 16 and will meet in Upper Witherspoon. Stewart Smith will lead the class and will use the book of the same title by James W. Kemp.
- Sunday School for Age 4 – Grade 5
  - The Joy-Us group for age three through first grade meets in the Corner Room of Lower Knox. This is an opportunity for our youngest to learn about God’s love for them and about loving others.
  - The God’s Gardeners group for second through fifth graders meets in the Yellow Room in Lower Knox. This class is learning about the fruits of the Spirit – fruits that are always in season!
10:00am Gathering Time – Time for refreshments and visiting in the Gathering Place while the choir rehearses in the Choir Room.
10:30am Worship – There will be one worship service on Sunday mornings. Attend in person or livestream on YouTube. Childcare is available during worship in the Church Nursery for children 5 and under. Children are always welcome in worship.
