Lent is a solemn religious observance commemorating Jesus Christ’s 40 days of fasting and temptation in the wilderness, as recounted in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Observing Lent prepares our hearts for Easter.
First United Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville will offer three special evening worship services during Lent. All the services will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at 695 E. Calvin, Fayetteville, AR.
- February 14, Ash Wednesday service with the imposition of ashes. Child care will be available for children up to age 5.
- March 28, Maundy Thursday service with communion around the Lord’s Table
- March 29, Good Friday Tenebrae Service
Lent is a time for Christians to reflect on our faith, repent of our sins, and grow closer to God. It is a solemn time, but it is also a time of hope and anticipation, as we look forward to the celebration of Easter.
