Work on the First School Natural Playground has begun! The playground is a project that has been in the planning stage for a few years. First School Director Cathy Hairston is working with Natural State Treehouse, and they are busy turning her ideas for a safe space for children to explore nature into an actual playground. Natural State Treehouse is owned by Josh Hart who is the son of longtime church members Bill and Carol Hart. To complete this project, First School has a goal of raising $10,000.

On Friday, September 27, at 5:00pm, First School will be hosting a Picnic and Silent Auction to raise money for the Natural Playground that is being built on the west side of the church campus.  There will be burgers with all the fixin’s, chips, beans, cookies, fruit, lemonade and water. It is $7 for adults, $5 for kids over 2, no charge for 2 and under.

The picnic will be held in Fellowship Hall and the Silent Auction will be in the Gathering Place. There is no charge if you wish to just attend the Silent Auction only.

This new playground will be a wonderful environment for the children to play and learn. It will include 2 club houses, a play ship, a slide, sensory tables, a slack line, balance beams, jumping stumps and picnic tables. Be sure to keep an eye on the work. It will be exciting to watch the transformation of the space.
