First School is a community ministry of FUPC. Their logo includes a cross to show that they are a faith-based school.

FUPC has been involved with several schools over the years The Creative School was housed at FUPC for many years and there was a program called “Tot’s Time” which was a mothers morning out opportunity. When the Creative School moved to their own building in 1997, the church decided to create a preschool on the campus.

Cathy Hairston, who is still the director of First School, initially was co-director with Jennifer Meldrum. The initial staff included eight teachers, a number which has now grown to more than 20. The current program still; provides parents day out services, plus preschool and an accredited kindergarten program. First school is recognized by the state of Arkansas as a “Better Beginnings” program.
