We are excited to let you know about a short course Pastor Phil will be teaching in February through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) that may be of interest to you or someone you know.
Here is the course description:
The Rise and Establishment of Western Christendom
Join Phil Butin, Co-Pastor of First United Presbyterian and former Professor of Theology at San Francisco Theological Seminary, as we examine and discuss the worship, practices, and beliefs of major branches of the Christian movement from the rise of Constantine to the papacy of Leo the Great in the 4th and 5th centuries. Attention will be given to how developments in this formative period continue to inform, shape, and challenge Christian churches today.
The course will be taught on three Fridays in February 2021: the 12th, the 19th, and the 24th. The time frame is 1:30-3:30 p.m. The physical location will be in the large University of Arkansas classroom at Drake field, south of Fayetteville. Masks will be required and seating will be 2 persons per 8 foot table for safety. The course can also be taken via Zoom from your home or apartment.
The OLLI Spring catalogue is at THIS LINK, and the course on The Rise and Establishment of Western Christendom is on page 18.
