AR Presbytery Mission Team Heads to Honduras in March 2025

For over a decade, the Presbytery of Arkansas has nurtured a thriving partnership with the Presbytery of Honduras, bringing congregations together across borders to live out Christ’s call to service. Ten mission trips have been made over the years. The trips have made it possible for churches to work together to have a greater impact. In March 2025, during Spring Break, a dedicated mission team will embark on their 11th year of ministry in Honduras, continuing the bonds of friendship and faith that have flourished through this service collaboration.

Rev. Jesse Gonzales joined the Presbytery’s committee as Co-Moderator following Rev. Phil Butin’s retirement last year. The other Co-Moderator, Leigh Woodruff, a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, is leading the trip for the seventh time. Her experience and passion for this mission are invaluable to the group. Participants include members from churches in Bentonville, Springdale, Fayetteville, and Eureka Springs, as well as students from the University of Arkansas, the University of the Ozarks, and the College of the Ozarks. Together, the team exemplifies a broad community effort to support the work of their Honduran partners.

The mission team will continue their efforts at The Bethel Presbyterian Church in Guimaca, the same site they worked on last year. Their tasks will include construction and renovation projects and time spent in fellowship with local congregations. This ongoing work underscores the importance of continuous long-term relationships in mission, allowing both groups to grow together in faith and friendship.

While in Honduras, the team will stay at Villa Gracia, a conference center just outside of Tegucigalpa. Operated by the Presbyterian Women of Honduras, Villa Gracia provides a welcoming space for rest, meals, and a deeper connection to the broader Presbyterian mission in the region.

This year, we will support Sunday School materials for 2 rural churches, Children’s Bibles ($20ea.), and 2 guitars to live at Villa Gracia for all groups to enjoy.  Please donate using the button below.  Select “Honduras” from the drop-down fund menu.

Together, we embody Christ’s love in action, fostering hope and faith in every block laid and every heart touched.
