Violist Tim MacDuff, like his fellow performers at the upcoming Light on the Hill Chamber Music Concert, is a member of the faculty of the University of Arkansas.

A native of New York, MacDuff completed a Bachelor of Music degree at the Crane School of Music and a Master of Music degree at Rice University. He also earned a Doctorate in Musical Arts at the University of Maryland, where he won the University of Maryland’s Concerto Competition. He also won the Crane Concerto Competition.

MacDuff has performed with the the National Repertory Orchestra in Colorado, the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic, and the Texas Festival Orchestra at Round Top. He played with the Lake George festival orchestra and the New World Symphony. At present, he is a member of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and the Quapaw Quartet.

MacDuff has coached student chamber groups at Manitou Springs Chamber Music Festival, Faulkner Chamber Music Festival, Crane Youth Music Camp, and the University of Maryland. He teaches students of the Arkansas Symphony’s Strings Academy and youth orchestras.

MacDuff will be featured in Mozart’s Clarinet Trio in E flat, K. 498 “Kegelstatt;” Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen, Op. 132; and selections from Bruch’s Acht Stücke, Op. 83 on March 6, 2023, at FUPC.
